Energy Management & Sustainability

According to the Trade Union Congress (TUC), UK businesses can reduce energy consumption by 35-40% by adopting more efficient practices. In order to economise our work practices, Morrison has adopted strategies to assess and reduce energy consumption across our estate portfolio.

In 1998, Morrison was one of the first UK companies to achieve ISO14001, the international standard for environmental management systems. The Facility Management arm of Morrison plc strives to achieve ISO14001 status on all its contracts.

Energy Management is at the forefront of our activities and we have been very successful at producing significant cost reductions for our clients along with sizeable reductions in their carbon footprint.

But effective energy management is not simply about making short-term savings. In many situations, it demands long-term planning through carefully costed maintenance plans. Morrison is instrumental in rolling out energy-saving schemes.

Across our extensive client base, we have invested in the resources to evaluate, implement and monitor energy-saving initiatives.

We seek to reduce energy usage across the whole company and our clients. This is achieved in our working practices, service delivery and in the supply partners we use.

One of our key performance indicators is to ensure the buildings we manage benefit from energy reductions, and minimize their impact on the environment.
